Problem and goals
01Problem: a consumer hardware startup came to us with a concept for a new safety and visibility accessory aimed at US parents of teen riders. They had a strong product idea, but no proof that anyone would buy it. Before committing to tooling, manufacturing, and a full product build, they needed to know whether the demand was real.
Goal: the goal was to validate market demand, feature priorities, and willingness-to-pay before major product investment
What was done to solve the problem and reach the goals
02Built the strategic groundwork first
Ran a multi-method survey
Modeled pain points
Delivered a strategic synthesis
Project results
04Strong concept validation: the tested concept scored 95% appeal, 87% purchase intent, and 85% perceived differentiation from what’s currently on the market. Because the test was structured as a cold, single exposure, those numbers held up as genuine signal — giving the client real evidence to bring to investors and manufacturers.
A clear, sized opportunity: we identified that roughly a quarter of the target parent population qualified as an active buying audience, and sized the total addressable, serviceable, and obtainable market to anchor a realistic year-one revenue target.
A de-risked path forward: the client walked away with a specific feature set to build first, a price band backed by trade-off data, the top risks likely to sink the launch, and a concrete, low-cost sequence of next steps to reach paying customers before committing to full-scale production.
